28th May. Guineafowl playing Sosueme at Oxford Art. Be there. Be messy.
Hi friends.
Are we getting excited about the Sosueme 4th Birthday? yeah you are. So this amazing new band from Melbourne is playing. they are called Redcoats and this is their first single. Getting raped (metaphorically) on Triple J at the moment and certianly has some throw backs to At The Drive In which should excite a fair few of you.
Apparently they tear things up live too. so mark it down in your diarys. Sat 28th May - Oxford Art Factory.
Best film clip I’ve seen all year for an Australian indie band. By far!
Hey Pals, so one of our lovelies - Pluto Jonze - is releasing an EP May 6th. yesterday he released a video. Here it is. It is for his first single Meet You Under Neon. come check him at his EP launch at Last Night @ The Gaelic, April 29th.
Secret Garden Festival was amazing. Wonderland rocked it.

The Human Instrument - The Walking Didgeridoo - The Synthesizer Voicebox - The BEST BEATBOXER IN THE WORLD…
…was hanging out in Redfern on Saturday night. So where were you?
Rahzel was joined by master turntablist JS-1 and freestyle champ Supernatural (who holds the record for longest freestyle rap ever at 9 hours) and the trio knocked the audience for six in a celebration of all things hip hop and no things autotune.
Here are a couple of vids from Rahzel’s jaw dropping solo.

Here it is – the announcement you’ve all been waiting for: SOSUEME’s 4th Birthday Box Social!
That’s 23 in cat years, 30 in dog years and the 1200 generations of Mayfly years. Consider for a moment all you’ve seen at SOSUEME over the last 4 years: from bands to babes; envelope pushing artworks to pioneering debut performances; DJ sets and afterparties from some of the world’s biggest bands, to that guy who swan dived off the roof and somehow lived – we’ve seen it all, done it all and shared it all (along with the hangovers).
Now it’s time for us to be giving back – the only way we know how – with an unconscionably excessive festival of hedonism; All of Oxford Art Factory, All night , Saturday 28 May! For us a birthday isn’t just 10 of the best bands around and a slew of top international and local DJs. No for us it’s about every single person who comes getting a hug and a party hat on entry, it’s about acrobats in zentai suits, evil taro readers, lolly bags, buckets of questionable rocket fuel, free popcorn, piñatas, obnoxious clowns on acid, kissing booths, Nintendo competitions and birthday cake made with hash butter! Throw all these ingredients into the mixing pot of awesome that is a SOSUEME Birthday and it’s no surprise we maintain a 50% pregnancy rate.
For your pleasure, we officially present to you the wonderfully talented bands who’ll be serenading us with live birthday frivolity:
Parades
Guineafowl
Stonefield (Melb)
Redcoats (Melb)
Pluto Jonze
Joyride & the Accidents
Mrs Bishop
Bon Chat Bon Rat
The Growl (WA)
Furnace & the Fundamentals
Stay tuned for the ridiculous DJ lineup announcement soon!
Tickets are on sale MIDDAY on Monday 11 April here: http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=46455 . Don’t dilly dally, the last two OAF SOSUEME’s sold out – and they didn’t even have lolly bags!
You may not remember when you turned four – but you’ll sure as hell remember when SOSUEME did!

Perth’s One Movement For Music conference and festival set to take place this October has been deferred til 2012 after organisers deemed it to be unsustainable in its present format.
David van Ooran, the executive director of Eventscorp – the events division of Tourism Western Australia, says that “despite modifications being made in the second year, the Festival component of One Movement held on The Esplanade isn’t working. The music industry Conference, Fringe and Showcase elements are achieving positives outcomes, but the Festival is incurring losses for the event organisers that cannot be sustained.”
While i’m sure all who attended last year would have deemed the festival a great success, it seems we’ll have to wait til 2012 to see what organisers have in store for the event.
Happy Friday y’all
As tempting as it is to post a Rebecca Black dubstep remix feat. Charlie Sheen, how about some excellent music instead, yes? Feast your ears on ‘Cello Song,’ by the talented youngster from the 60 and 70s - Nick Drake. Like so many of his contemporaries, Drake never made it to his thirties - dying of an overdose at 26 and wasting an unbelievable talent. Cello Song is from the first of three albums released in Drake’s lifetime, and it’s as about as gorgeous as they come. When combined with headphones, Cello Song is a useful weapon in combatting daily stress, nagging partners, and the Bloody Beetroots.
Enjoy -
