Bris-vegas based DJ prodigy, Sampology is bringing his Super Visual Smackdown to the people of Sosueme this Friday, spinning records into an art form as he combines sound and vision to create a multimedia extravaganza. Since bursting onto the scene in 2003 as a gig hungry, barely 17 year old kid, Sampology has fast established himself as one of the country’s most talented, technically proficient, versatile and unique DJ/producers. Gaining much respect from the likes of Peaches, DJ Craze and a throng of frenzied fans, his unique and dynamic audio- visual turntabalism will no doubt create mayhem with his mash up style set at this exclusive Sydney show.
Here’s a little teaser of whats to come tonight!!

Bubbling with anticipation festival frequenters have been waiting with bated breath with Fuzzy recently announcing that they were soon to unveil the line up for this year’s annual Parklife Festival. Well we wait no more with news this morning sent out via the interwebs what they have in store for the festival’s 10th anniversary edition.
The five-date festival tour has revealed quite a diverse line-up to date with an invasion of overseas bands making their way onto a usually dance dominated bill. Once again, there’s no ‘headliner’ so to speak but rather a mix of talent from across the musical spectrum.
While the festival is usually synonymous with bikini clad, fluro bearing punters it should be easy to overlook this small annoying fact with the picturesque surroundings and acts like The Dandy Warhols, Groove Armada, Missy Elliot, Kele, New Young Pony Club, The Wombats and Ou Est Le Swimming Pool who will all definitely be worth a watch.
Parklife is dropping by Sydney Sunday 3rd October with a little help from the following acts..
AC Slater,Ajax,Bag Raiders,Brodinski,Busy P,Chiddy Bang,Classixx,Cut Copy,Dan Black,Darwin Deez,Delorean,Groove Armada,Grum,Gypsy and the Cat (excluding Perth),Holy Ghost!,Jack Beats
Jesse Rose,Kele,Mehdi,Memory Tapes,Midnight Juggernauts,Missy Elliott,Mixmaster Mike,New YoungPony Club,Ou Est Le Swimming Pool,Sinden,Soulwax,The Dandy Warhols,The Glitch Mob,The Swiss,The Wombats, Uffie,Washington,Wolf Gang,Yolanda Be Cool vs Dcup

Check his interview in this week’s Brag:
1. Growing Up
My father owned a Mexican restaurant as I was growing up, he would play lots of Cat Steven’s and Niel Diamond and I remember helping him clean the joint during the day and I would turn the music up, all the time, louder, and louder. Mum wasn’t a musical person, she liked the Gypsy Kings and Kenny G, typical mum music, Dad played guitar though, but I didn’t grow up in a musical household so to speak. I think I first heard hip-hop on rage and was amazed by how it sounded, my parents were always supportive of what I wanted to listen to but they weren’t too cool with NWA and Ice T, who were big back then. I would dub tapes off my friends and listen to them quietly in my room so my mum couldn’t hear, but they ended up not caring too much.
2. Inspirations
My inspirations have been groups like RUN DMC, De La Soul, Public Enemy, NWA, J-dilla is probably my biggest inspiration production wise. The groups I got into early on, it was a mix of the raw energy, music and how they carried themselves which made me fall in love with the style of music. It was different, didn’t conform to any standard in pop music. I went through the whole baggy pants, trying to act like I was from Brooklyn, but I think the more you learn and grow, the more you realize its about being yourself.
3. You
I’m a hip hop producer, originally from the Gold Coast in QLD, currently residing in Melbourne. I was in a rap group called Trace Elements, we parted ways a while back but I’m still good mates with the other guys. I don’t really have a crew, I have a bunch of good friends in Melbourne I work with a lot, Phrase and Illy being the main ones. Some would call me the loan wolf, sort of like Will Farrell
4. The Music You Make/Play
I don’t think I have a particular style, not now anyway. I try different things all the time and try not to limit myself. My main work has been with various artists including Supastition, Kenn Starr, Muneshine and a lot of underground artists. Some bigger names I have worked with include Pharoahe Monch, Amerie, Trey Songz, M.O.P, Masta Ace and a few others. I also have an Album out with all Aussie mc’s, Drapht, Phrase, Illy, Pegz, Delta and a heap more are on there.
5. Music, Right Here, Right Now
I like where the music scene is at the moment in Australia. Hip-hop still gets overlooked by the big wigs in the industry but all in all we are in a much better place than 5 years ago. I recently finished touring with Illy as his DJ and we did the Groovin’ The Moo tour, along side Silverchair, Miami Horror, Grinspoon, Funkoars, Lisa Mitchell. I made sure I checked out most of the groups playing and they were all amazing, standouts for me were Grinspoon and Miami Horror.

Being a self confessed ‘Coastie’ (the nicer side) myself, i can speak from experience when i say like many smaller ‘off the map’ provinces, The Central Coast just don’t get a look in when it comes to music of a higher calibre….
Kudos to the crew at Coaster who always deliver an eclectic mix of entertainment both International and local, unfortunately this small fact tends to jump straight over the heads of a select few musically uninformed who like last year passed up Wu member GZA to head to the dance tent.
Extending the invite to a few thousand peeps to celebrate their third birthday Coaster is back with just the right offering of musical endowment to appease the masses; legendary Californian Hip Hop crew Cypress hill, LA fuzz rockers and personal favourite, Silversun Pickups, Festival regulars; Art VS Science, Blue Juice and Birds of Tokyo and loads of exciting new and not so new comers to the live scene; Basement birds, Cloud Control, Hungry kids of Hungry, The Holidays, Boy and Bear, Illy, Spit Syndicate, Slow down Honey, The Aston Shuffle, The Chemist and The City Riots.
